Max Read Field Gets A Long-awaited Upgrade

Pawtucket, RI

Overview

Traverse worked with the City of Pawtucket to improve Max Read Field. The City needed a field that could serve the public and the local high schools, withstanding the intense use. Traverse designed a new 85,000-square-foot synthetic turf field, track, and grandstand including a press box and a concession stand with restrooms. The athletic complex is perched above the Seekonk River, creating views of the river to the south. Taking advantage of the existing slope, Traverse designed the concession stand and bleachers above the facility to create great viewing areas for spectators, while eliminating the need for a lift with the design of a bridge. Traverse worked with the City of Pawtucket on concept design through the completion of construction.
